In a significant operation, authorities in Assam detained four Bangladeshi nationals, including a minor, in Dispur, Guwahati. This operation has unveiled an alleged network facilitating illegal border crossings. The Border Branch of the Police Commissionerate acted on credible intelligence to apprehend the individuals, who are accused of entering India without proper documentation.
The detained individuals are currently held at Dispur Police Station while legal procedures for their deportation to Bangladesh are being initiated. The investigation revealed that the group crossed the border on April 10 in search of employment, reportedly lured by brokers, and arrived in Guwahati on April 11.
Broker Arrested During Investigation
During the investigation, police made a significant development by apprehending a broker named Md Akkash Ali. The 28-year-old, who works as a taxi driver, was accused of facilitating the movement of the detained individuals into India.
A case has been registered against Md Akkash Ali at Dispur Police Station under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The specific sections include 21(2), 45, 318(4), 336(2), 340(2), and 112(2), in addition to Section 24 of the Immigration & Foreigners Act, 2025.
Ongoing Investigation Into Larger Network
Authorities have indicated that the investigation is ongoing, focusing on uncovering a more extensive network involved in illegal infiltration and human trafficking across the border. Police officials have stated that they are committed to addressing the issue of illegal entry and ensuring accountability for those involved in such activities.
