Drugs Valued at Rs 2.02 Crore Destroyed by Panchkula Police

Details of the Seizure

The Panchkula police announced the destruction of drugs worth over Rs 2.02 crore on Wednesday. These substances were seized in 75 cases registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act between the years 2022 and 2024.

The destroyed drugs consisted of 800 grams of heroin, 10.3 kilograms of cannabis (ganja), 1.5 kilograms of charas, 76.6 kilograms of poppy husk (known as chura post), 24.5 kilograms of opium plants, 2.6 kilograms of opium, as well as 1,342 intoxicant tablets and capsules. The total estimated market value of these seized substances was recorded at Rs 2,02,83,511.

Destruction Process

Senior police officials were in attendance during the disposal operation, including DCP Panchkula Srishti Gupta, DCP of the State Crime, Rajneesh, and ACP Ajit Singh, along with other personnel. Local representatives were also present to observe the process, aiming to maintain transparency.

Police Commitment Against Drug Trafficking

Panchkula Police Commissioner Sibash Kabiraj stated that this action signifies a strong commitment to combat drug trafficking in the region. He emphasized that the police will pursue strict and continuous action against narcotics networks.

Support for Substance Abuse Issues

Furthermore, DCP Gupta urged families to seek assistance for those dealing with substance abuse rather than attempting to hide the issue. She highlighted that under the campaign “Nasha evam Hinsa Mukt: Mera Gaon, Meri Shaan,” the Panchkula police are facilitating treatment, counseling, and rehabilitation services for affected individuals.
