AIADMK’s Palaniswami Criticizes Stalin Over Job Creation Promises
Employment Promise Discrepancy
AIADMK leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami has publicly criticized Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin regarding the state’s employment record. Palaniswami stated that the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government had promised to fill 5.5 lakh job vacancies but has only provided job orders to 94,000 individuals to date.
During a press interaction, Palaniswami stated, “CM Stalin promised to fill up 5.5 lakh vacancies, including 3.5 lakh government posts, but only 94,000 job orders have been issued.” His remarks are a part of the AIADMK’s intensified campaign against the ruling DMK ahead of the upcoming assembly polls.
Recent Appointments and Future Plans
On February 16, Chief Minister Stalin distributed appointment letters to 1,598 individuals during a function for the Makkaludan Mudhalvar scheme in Chennai. At this event, he indicated that these appointments were executed through various recruitment boards to fulfill 27,858 positions.
Stalin emphasized that creating job opportunities for the youth has been a priority for the DMK government since it assumed power. He highlighted that the appointments made during the event were part of a commitment to fill 10,000 posts by June.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister mentioned that the government is planning to recruit an additional 50,000 individuals over the next two years. This recruitment drive is expected to contribute positively to the employment landscape in Tamil Nadu.
Political Context and Upcoming Elections
Palaniswami’s criticisms of the Stalin administration form part of a larger campaign by opposition parties, who are questioning the DMK government’s efficacy in addressing unemployment. This issue is particularly significant for the youth of Tamil Nadu, as the state approaches assembly elections slated for April 23.
As the political landscape heats up in Tamil Nadu, the performance of the DMK concerning job creation is likely to be a central topic among voters, influencing their choices in the upcoming electoral process.
