Sony Launches 1000X The Collexion Headphones to Commemorate 10-Year Anniversary

Overview of the New Headphones

Sony has unveiled the 1000X The Collexion headphones as a part of its premium wireless headphone lineup, celebrating a decade of the 1000X series. This new model integrates the advanced noise cancellation technology from the WH-1000XM6 with a newly designed chassis, enhanced audio tuning, and high-quality materials. It supports spatial audio and LDAC, offering a battery life of up to 24 hours.

The 1000X The Collexion is positioned as the highest-end model within Sony’s 1000X headphone range. Additionally, Sony has introduced a new Sandstone color option for the existing WH-1000XM6 model.

Pricing and Availability

The Sony 1000X The Collexion is retailing at $649.99 in the United States, approximately equivalent to INR 63,000, and CAD 849.99 in Canada, roughly INR 59,800. Starting from May 2026, the headphones will be available through Sony’s official store, Best Buy, and Amazon. They come in two color options: Platinum and Black.

In conjunction with this launch, Sony also released a new Sandstone finish for the WH-1000XM6, which previously had available colors including Black, Midnight Blue, Platinum Silver, and Sand Pink.

Technical Features and Specifications

Sony 1000X The Collexion utilizes custom 30mm dynamic drivers featuring a newly engineered high-rigidity dome constructed from unidirectional carbon composite material, complemented by a soft edge design. This configuration aims to enhance instrument separation, clarity of vocals, and high-frequency details. The headphones adopt a closed-back design.

Marked as Sony’s first model to include DSEE Ultimate, the headphones employ Edge AI to restore details in compressed audio files in real time. They are compatible with 360 Reality Audio Upmix and come with three distinct modes tailored for Music, Cinema, and Game. Users can conveniently switch between these presets via a physical Listening Mode button.

The 1000X The Collexion retains the same active noise cancellation system found in the WH-1000XM6. This includes support for an Ambient Sound Mode and Quick Attention feature. The headphones are equipped with 12 microphones and Adaptive NC Optimiser technology, which intelligently adjusts noise cancellation based on the surrounding environment.

With a frequency response range of 4Hz to 40,000Hz when connected via cable and powered on, the headphones also deliver a Bluetooth frequency response of 20Hz to 20,000Hz with standard codecs, extending up to 40,000Hz when using LDAC at 96kHz and 990kbps. The device has a sensitivity rating of 103dB/mW, an impedance of 48 ohms, Bluetooth 6.0, and multipoint connectivity compatible with SBC, AAC, LDAC, and LC3 audio codecs. Its wireless range extends up to 10 meters.

Battery Life and Design

Sony claims that the 1000X The Collexion provides up to 24 hours of battery life with active noise cancellation enabled, and up to 32 hours when the noise cancellation is turned off. For talk time, the devices can last up to 16 hours with ANC on, extending to 20 hours with it off.

Weighing approximately 320g, the headphones feature metal accents, a hand-polished finish, and a soft vegan leather covering. Among their highlights are integrated buttons, concealed microphones, a wider cushioned headband, and reimagined earcups designed to enhance comfort for prolonged listening. The package includes a carrying case and a detachable 1.2-meter audio cable with a gold-plated L-shaped stereo mini plug. Accessibility features comprise tactile buttons, clear left and right markings, and a magnetic closure for the carry case.
