Reshuffle Discussions Intensify as Tawde Meets BJP Leaders
Meetings in Lucknow
Talks about a potential reshuffle in the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet and the BJP organization have gained traction as national general secretary Vinod Tawde conducted a series of meetings with senior party figures in Lucknow over the weekend. The urgency of these discussions aligns with the upcoming Assembly elections scheduled for next year.
During the meetings, Tawde engaged with various prominent leaders, including state BJP president Pankaj Chaudhary, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, and several Cabinet ministers. He also met senior women leaders from both the party organization and government. As Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is currently campaigning in West Bengal, Tawde is expected to meet him on Monday to continue these discussions.
Chaudhary’s Meeting in Delhi
After the series of meetings in Lucknow, Pankaj Chaudhary traveled to Delhi on Sunday evening. Reports indicate that he met with senior party leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. This engagement suggests that the senior leadership is gathering feedback and strategizing to smoothly navigate the Assembly election landscape.
Party officials noted the urgency of finalizing appointments for “suitable party workers and leaders” to serve as chairpersons and Board members for several vacant corporations. This step is seen as crucial in preparing for the upcoming electoral contest.
Official Statements
Following the initial meetings, Pankaj Chaudhary posted on social media platform X, expressing gratitude for the visit of Rajya Sabha MP Vinod Tawde. He highlighted the constructive discussions that occurred regarding contemporary issues and the strengthening of party organization.
Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak downplayed any speculation about the suddenness of the meetings, stating that they are part of the ongoing organizational process dictated by party leadership. He emphasized that the pro-poor initiatives under Prime Minister Narendra Modi have resonated with the public, and the law and order situation under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has received widespread approval. Pathak expressed confidence that the BJP would secure a majority in the forthcoming elections, similar to the historic victory in 2017.
Pending Appointments
Since Pankaj Chaudhary’s appointment as state BJP chief, the party has not yet announced its leadership team, which would include vice-presidents, general secretaries, secretaries, and heads of regional teams. Sources indicate that Tawde’s current visit may expedite these decisions.
