Udhayanidhi Stalin Criticizes AIADMK-BJP Alliance in Tamil Nadu
Stalin’s Urgent Appeal to Voters
Tamil Nadu’s Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin issued a pointed critique of the opposition AIADMK-led NDA during a campaign event on Monday. He cautioned the electorate that endorsing this alliance could lead the state towards “retrogression,” urging support for the DMK coalition to maintain its developmental trajectory.
Speaking at a rally in Villupuram to support party candidates Lakshmanan and Gowtham Dravidamani, Stalin encouraged voters to decisively reject the AIADMK and the BJP in the forthcoming assembly elections. He declared, “Prove in this election that the AIADMK and its ally the BJP have no space in Tamil Nadu. Annihilate them in the polls, and wisely choose the DMK to sustain the pace of growth in the state.”
Accusations Against AIADMK
Stalin accused the AIADMK of conspiring to eliminate essential welfare measures, specifically targeting a monthly entitlement program designed for women heads of families. He urged the public to consider this aspect when casting their votes in the April 23 election.
In an effort to appeal to homemakers, the Deputy Chief Minister made a commitment that the DMK would introduce an Rs 8,000 coupon scheme for them promptly after assuming office. This initiative is part of the party’s strategy to connect with voters and underscore its focus on welfare.
Historical Context and Future Goals
Reflecting on the DMK’s performance in the previous assembly elections, Stalin called for an even stronger showing this year. He reminded supporters that in the last election, the party successfully secured four out of seven seats in the district, and he urged them to strive for winning all seven constituencies this time.
The assembly elections for 234 seats in Tamil Nadu are scheduled for April 23. The DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance aims to retain its position in power, while the AIADMK-led NDA is focused on making a comeback in the political landscape of the state.
