CSK Lodges Complaint Over DJ’s Song Choice During RCB Match
Complaint to BCCI
The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have formally lodged a complaint with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) regarding the music played during their match against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. According to reports, CSK expressed their dissatisfaction with the DJ’s selection of the song “Dosa, idli, sambar, chutney, chutney,” which is a viral track often associated with memes targeting South Indian culture. The team considered the playing of this song to be ‘inappropriate.’
A senior official from the Indian Premier League (IPL) confirmed that they are currently investigating the matter, stating, “We have received a complaint from CSK and are looking into it.”
Statements from CSK Management
CSK Managing Director Kasi Viswanathan addressed the issue, mentioning that DJs typically perform to support the home team. However, he emphasized that the atmosphere at the Chinnaswamy Stadium was different, noting that certain derogatory comments were made about CSK players during the match. In light of this, CSK submitted a request to the BCCI to review the situation.
The song in question, composed by musician Gana Appu, has been part of the longstanding rivalry between CSK and RCB, with fans frequently sharing it on social media platforms. Last year, RCB even released a video featuring Jitesh Sharma singing the song prior to a match against CSK, which led to backlash from CSK supporters.
Viswanathan stated, “After that incident, there hasn’t been any repeat of it. The DJ isn’t supposed to make any comment on the opposition players. Moreover, we are fortunate to have a lovely fanbase that cheers us in numbers.”
DJ’s Remarks During the Match
In addition to the song issue, CSK management expressed concern over comments made by the DJ following the dismissal of their players during the match. A CSK official remarked that the purpose of the DJ is not to belittle or insult rival teams.
The ongoing situation highlights the competitive spirit present in IPL matches, particularly in high-stakes encounters like the one between CSK and RCB. While RCB has climbed to the top of the IPL points table after defeating the Lucknow Super Giants, CSK currently finds themselves in eighth place with a total of 4 points from five matches.
Current Standings
As the IPL 2026 season progresses, both teams are keenly focused on their performances and maintaining positive team dynamics. With CSK’s complaint under review, it remains to be seen how the BCCI will respond to the issues raised by the franchise.
