Army Officer and Son Assaulted in Delhi During Public Drinking Incident

Incident Description

A serving Army Brigadier and his son were reportedly assaulted by a group of individuals in Vasant Enclave, South Delhi, late on Friday night. The confrontation began around 10 PM when Brigadier Parminder Singh Arora intervened after noticing two men consuming alcohol inside a parked car.

The situation escalated quickly after the Brigadier objected to the public drinking, leading to a heated argument. The two men involved in the incident called for additional support, resulting in a larger group of 7 to 8 men arriving in multiple vehicles.

Assault Details

The group proceeded to physically attack the Brigadier and his son. Reports indicate that the officer’s son sustained significant injuries during the assault, while Brigadier Arora was also physically handled and pushed as he attempted to stop the situation from worsening.

Witnesses to the incident claim that a police van arrived at the scene during the altercation. However, it has been reported that the police officers present did not intervene, remaining as bystanders while the assault took place.

Police Response

The victims’ family later approached the Vasant Vihar police station to file a First Information Report (FIR) regarding the incident. They allege that their initial attempts to register the complaint were met with resistance, and the police reportedly refused to file the FIR at that time.

Military and Police Action

The Army has expressed serious concern regarding the incident. A statement from military authorities noted that a Military Police team has been tasked to assist Brigadier Arora in the aftermath of the assault.

Furthermore, the Army has reached out to the Delhi Police, requesting a swift and prioritized investigation into the matter. This request underscores the seriousness with which the military is treating the incident involving one of its serving officers and his family.
