Rakesh Bedi Discusses Popularity of ‘Bachcha hai tu mera’ and Future of Dhurandhar Franchise

Iconic Character and Viral Dialogue

Rakesh Bedi, known for his role as Jameel Jamali, a politician from Pakistan in the film “Dhurandhar”, recently shared his thoughts on the immense popularity of his character’s dialogue, “Bachcha hai tu mera.” The phrase gained significant traction on social media, particularly after the film’s release. In a recent interview, Bedi discussed the warm reactions from fans who frequently request him to repeat the line.

“I get stopped by fans on the street to deliver my famous line,” Bedi explained. “Regardless of the person’s appearance, I find myself saying, ‘Bachcha hai tu mera.’ The dialogue struck a chord when the film was released in December 2025, and its popularity only grew from there,” he added, noting that the sequel amplified the impact of the line. Bedi attributed the dialogue’s powerful delivery and dubbing in the sequel for its resonance with the audience.

Memorable Moments in Dhurandhar

Bedi also reflected on some of his fondest moments during the filming of “Dhurandhar”. He highlighted a specific scene involving a minor character, noting how it left a lasting impression on him. “There’s a character who confronts Rehman Dakait’s son while casually eating an apple. The way he discards the apple during a tense moment is unforgettable, and I commend the director and the actor for that scene,” he remarked.

Additionally, he mentioned that the unexpected climax of “Dhurandhar 2” revealed his character as an Indian spy in Pakistan, which generated excitement among the viewers. “The ending was impactful for the audience, but for us, it felt like just another scene,” he noted. Bedi recognized that the audience’s expectations for the sequel were notably high following the success of the first film, emphasizing that viewers approached the sequel with anticipation.

Anticipation for a Third Installment

As the success of “Dhurandhar 2” spurred interest among fans for a potential third film, questions arose regarding the future of the franchise. When inquired about “Dhurandhar 3”, Bedi expressed doubts about its realization. “I don’t believe a third installment will happen. However, the Dhurandhar franchise could evolve with different actors at any time,” he stated, explaining that the story arc concluded with Jameel Jamali’s journey back to his homeland.

The films, both directed by Aditya Dhar, have left a significant mark, with “Dhurandhar” releasing in December 2025 and its sequel, “Dhurandhar 2”, hitting theaters in March of this year. The latest installment features an ensemble cast including Ranveer Singh, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, and more, contributing to the franchise’s broad appeal.
