Brahmāstra Part Two to Proceed Following Ramayana, Confirms Namit Malhotra at CinemaCon 2026

Announcement at CinemaCon 2026

Namit Malhotra has announced that Brahmāstra Part Two is set to move forward, contingent upon the completion of the Ramayana project. He shared this update during the global promotional launch of Ramayana at CinemaCon 2026 in Las Vegas, where he was accompanied by actor Yash.

This announcement has rekindled interest in the continuation of the Astraverse, which was initially teased almost four years after the first film was released in 2022. The first instalment introduced a larger narrative centered on the characters Dev and Amrita.

Timeline for the Sequel

During the event, Malhotra indicated that work on the sequel will commence only after the Ramayana project has been completed. This update is one of the clearest indications regarding the future of the Astraverse since director Ayan Mukerji began hinting at developments following the release of Brahmāstra.

Speculation Surrounding the Sequel

Interest in the sequel spiked in October 2025 when Mukerji shared images from a mountain excursion, which appeared to show him holding a script, supplemented by hashtags relating to Part 2 and Om. However, at that time, he did not confirm specific details.

Malhotra’s recent comments suggest that preparations for the sequel are indeed part of a long-term vision for the Astraverse series.

Global Campaign for Ramayana

During CinemaCon 2026, Malhotra and Yash launched the international promotional campaign for Ramayana by showcasing early footage and material from the film. Malhotra described the scale and ambition of the project as reminiscent of an “Avatar meets Gladiator moment.”

The film boasts an ensemble cast, featuring Ranbir Kapoor in the role of Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash portraying Ravana. Additionally, the cast includes notable actors such as Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman, along with Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Arun Govil, Kunal Kapoor, Adinath Kothare, Sheeba Chaddha, and Indira Krishnan.

The Future of the Astraverse

With Ramayana being positioned as a significant global-scale mythological adaptation, and Brahmāstra 2 expected to follow its completion, Malhotra’s announcement provides strong confirmation that the planning for the Astraverse storyline is actively in progress.

This update aligns with his previous statements regarding Ramayana, which he described as something that would feel “new” to international audiences, labeling it “the first story of the universe.”
