Amazon Expands Quick Delivery Service to 100 Cities in India

Expansion of Amazon Now Service

Amazon has announced the expansion of its 10-minute delivery service, Amazon Now, to reach customers across 100 cities in India. This service, which was originally available in select locations, utilizes micro-fulfilment centres (MFCs) located within local areas to ensure rapid delivery of various products.

The Amazon Now service provides quick delivery options for groceries, personal care items, fashion, beauty products, and small appliances. With this wider rollout, Amazon aims to enhance its competitive edge against other quick-commerce companies like Blinkit, Swiggy Instamart, and Zepto.

Investment and Infrastructure Growth

In a recent press release, Amazon detailed its plan to set up approximately 1,000 micro-fulfilment centres nationwide to support this expansion. The company projects that this initiative will enable over 16,000 farmers to sell their products directly to customers through the marketplace.

As part of the service’s expansion, residents in key cities including Kochi, Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Jaipur, Lucknow, and Ahmedabad will now have access to the fast delivery service. Customers in these regions can use the Amazon app and look for the “Now” icon on the top banner to determine service availability.

Existing Service Locations

Amazon Now has already established its presence in major urban areas like Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, and Bengaluru. This latest initiative is intended to elevate Amazon’s standing in India’s rapidly evolving quick-commerce market.

The service offers a wide range of products that include groceries, personal care items, fashion, beauty products, baby supplies, pet products, and healthcare supplements. The promise is that these products will be delivered within minutes of placing an order.

Financial Commitment to India

The expansion forms part of Amazon’s significant investment plan of over Rs. 2,800 crore in India. The company aims to bolster the safety, health, and financial welfare of its associates while scaling up its operational infrastructure throughout the country.

With the introduction of Amazon Now, the company is intensifying its competition within the quick-commerce sector, which also sees participation from players such as Zepto, Swiggy Instamart, Blinkit, Flipkart Minutes, and BB Now.
