Bengal Elections 2026: EC Releases Supplementary Voter List Ahead of Polling
Supplementary Voter List Published
On April 22, 2026, the Election Commission of India (ECI) released a supplementary list of voters cleared by the Tribunal, who are eligible to participate in the first phase of the West Bengal Assembly elections scheduled for April 23. While the list provides information on voters whose cases have been resolved, details concerning the total number of applicants or those included in the voter list were not disclosed.
Electors can access the list through the ECI’s official website by selecting the add or delete list and entering their Assembly and booth number. It is important to note that booths with pending cases will not display the names of voters. Those whose names do not appear on the pending list can verify their voting status using their Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC) or voter ID number.
Background and Court Directions
The supplementary voter list was issued in compliance with directives from the Supreme Court of India. Invoking Article 142 of the Constitution, the Supreme Court mandated that voters declared eligible by the Tribunal up to two days before the polling date should be permitted to vote in the upcoming Assembly elections in West Bengal.
The court had specifically ordered the publication of the electoral list on April 21, 2026, in advance of the first phase of polling that involves 152 Assembly constituencies. Following this directive, the Election Commission made the data available to the public in the morning, with an updated and consolidated list expected to be released by Wednesday evening.
