Assam HSC Result 2026: Trends in Class 12 Pass Percentages Across Streams
Overview of Recent Years
The results of the Assam Higher Secondary (HS) examinations have exhibited considerable fluctuations in pass percentages over the past few years. Data indicates that while the board has generally maintained pass rates above 80 percent, significant variations have been observed across different streams. The Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB), also known as the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC), is yet to provide an update regarding the Class 12 HS result date and time.
The Class 12 exams were conducted from February 11 to March 16. The board will announce the pass percentages for all streams in conjunction with the release of the results.
Pass Percentages by Year
During the same period, the board announced the Class 12 Assam board results on April 30 for the examinations held between February 13 and March 17. Over 302,420 students participated in the Assam Board Higher Secondary exams last year.
However, in 2023, the overall pass percentage experienced a decline, dropping to 84.96 percent. The most significant downturn was seen in the arts stream, which fell to 70.12 percent, whereas science maintained a pass percentage of 84.96 percent and commerce stood at 79.57 percent.
Historical Context and Patterns
A retrospective examination reveals the significant impact of the pandemic, notably in 2021 when the pass percentage soared to 98.92 percent, primarily due to the implementation of alternative assessment methods rather than traditional examinations. In 2020, the pass rate was recorded at 86.52 percent, followed by 83.11 percent in 2019, and 87.05 percent in 2018.
Throughout these years, it has been observed that the HS science stream consistently boasts the highest pass percentages, while the arts stream demonstrates considerable variation, which often affects the overall average negatively during weaker years. The commerce stream tends to remain stable within the middle range, whereas vocational courses continue to exhibit comparatively lower success rates.
