Show-Booking Issues Continue for Bhooth Bangla Ahead of Release

Release Date Shifted for Bhooth Bangla

The horror-comedy film Bhooth Bangla was originally set to debut on April 10 but was postponed to April 17. This delay followed a struggle to secure sufficient showings amid the popularity of Dhurandhar The Revenge, which has been performing well in theaters.

As the new release date approaches, challenges remain regarding the allocation of show times. With less than 24 hours until its scheduled premiere, many single-screen cinemas have yet to open ticket bookings for Bhooth Bangla.

Dispute Over Show-Share Arrangements

A source within the trade sector reported that Jio Studios, the distributor for Dhurandhar The Revenge, has requested that their film be allotted a 50% share of the showcasing at single-screen cinemas. They argue that the film continues to draw audiences, citing a collection of Rs. 6.50 crores on Tuesday as evidence of its sustained appeal.

Conversely, the distribution team for Bhooth Bangla has urged for complete showcasing at these cinemas. They contend that Dhurandhar The Revenge has already had a successful four-week run, and it is now time for Bhooth Bangla to receive its due opportunity. They have referenced strong advance booking trends and ticket sales from paid previews as indicators of demand for their film.

As of 8:00 AM on April 16, multiple single-screen cinemas in Mumbai, including locations such as Inox Dadar, Citylight, Plaza, Chitra, and New Excelsior, have not yet made tickets available for Bhooth Bangla. Other cinemas, like MovieTime Star City, Mukta A2 Orion in Santacruz, and various Gold Cinemas, also remain without open bookings for the new release.

The Issue Expands Beyond Mumbai

Moreover, the booking challenges extend beyond Mumbai. Cinemas in other cities, such as Delite and Liberty in Delhi, as well as the renowned Raj Mandir in Jaipur, have also not initiated ticket sales for Bhooth Bangla, indicating a broader issue within the film distribution landscape.

With anticipation building for Bhooth Bangla’s release and the controversy over its showcasing rights, both its makers and the audience await further developments as the scheduled debut approaches.
