Prateek Yadav, the younger son of Mulayam Singh Yadav, passed away early Wednesday morning in Lucknow under unexplained circumstances. He was 38 years old. The precise cause of his death has yet to be officially determined, and a postmortem examination is currently being conducted.

In the aftermath of Prateek’s death, Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party (SP) and Prateek’s half-brother, expressed profound grief. Speaking outside the post-mortem house at King George’s Medical University in Lucknow, he said, “It is very sad that he is no longer among us. He was a very good person who wanted to achieve something through his own hard work.”

Reflections on Health and Business

Akhilesh Yadav recalled their last meeting approximately two months prior, during which he advised Prateek to prioritize his health and expand his business endeavors. “I had told him to take care of his health and expand his business,” he noted.

The SP chief also highlighted the emotional toll that financial challenges and business losses can inflict on individuals. He stated, “Sometimes, financial and business losses leave people deeply distressed,” a comment that implied potential difficulties Prateek may have been experiencing.

Akhilesh indicated that the family will explore all necessary legal avenues in light of the circumstances surrounding Prateek’s death. “We will pursue whatever legal course is necessary,” he confirmed.

Surviving Family Members

Prateek Yadav is survived by his wife, Aparna Yadav, who is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and serves as the vice-chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh State Women Commission. The couple has two daughters. The family is still grieving the loss, which comes nearly four years after the passing of their mother, Sadhana Gupta, in 2022.
