UP SIR Final Voter List: Major Urban Districts Experience Significant Deletion Ratios

Overview of Voter Deletions

In the final electoral roll published on Friday, districts in Uttar Pradesh exhibited the highest percentages of voter deletions following a 166-day Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. The data reveals that Lucknow and Ghaziabad observed the highest deletion rates at 22.89 percent (9.14 lakh) and 20.24 percent (5.75 lakh), respectively. This comparison is made against the electoral roll effective as of October 27, 2025, when the SIR process commenced in the state.

Lucknow, which encompasses two Lok Sabha constituencies—Lucknow and Mohanlalganj—has emerged notably within this context. The Lucknow constituency is a stronghold of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and is currently represented by Union Minister Rajnath Singh. In contrast, Mohanlalganj was won by the Samajwadi Party (SP) in the 2024 parliamentary elections.

Districts with High Deletion Rates

Following Lucknow and Ghaziabad, other districts with significant voter deletions include Kanpur Nagar at 19.42 percent (6.87 lakh), Gautam Buddha Nagar at 19.33 percent, Meerut at 18.75 percent, Shahjahanpur at 17.9 percent, Agra at 17.71 percent, Prayagraj at 17.62 percent, Hapur at 17.59 percent, and Kannauj at 17.21 percent. Most of these districts are urban and are regarded as strongholds for the BJP.

Kannauj, the Lok Sabha constituency represented by SP president Akhilesh Yadav, ranks 10th in terms of voter deletions, indicating a significant drop in elector numbers. The data illustrates interesting trends in elector dynamics across various urban areas.

Districts with Lowest Decrease

Conversely, districts experiencing the smallest declines include Lalitpur (6.66 percent), Hamirpur (6.88 percent), Pilibhit (7.97 percent), Mahoba (8.55 percent), and Banda (8.86 percent). Except for Pilibhit, which lies in central Uttar Pradesh, the remaining four are situated in the Bundelkhand region.

Important districts associated with BJP’s political influence, including Mathura, Ayodhya, and Varanasi, occupy the 26th, 27th, and 28th ranks respectively, with reductions of 13.57 percent, 13.48 percent, and 13.42 percent in elector numbers. Notably, Varanasi serves as the Lok Sabha constituency for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while the BJP lost Ayodhya to the SP in the recent 2024 elections.

Congress Strongholds and Assembly Constituencies

In terms of Congress influence, Amethi is positioned at 32nd with a 13.12 percent drop in electorate figures, while Raebareli stands at 42nd with an 11.56 percent decrease in electors.

Among the 403 assembly constituencies in Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow Cantonment recorded the highest decline at 34.18 percent (1.24 lakh voters), followed closely by Allahabad North at 34.01 percent and Lucknow East at 31.01 percent. Other notable constituencies include Agra Cantonment at 30.47 percent, Sahibabad at 30.36 percent, Lucknow Central at 28.88 percent, Kalyanpur at 28.03 percent, Meerut Cantonment at 27.79 percent, and Kanpur Cantonment at 26.59 percent.

In total, at least 35 Assembly constituencies reported declines in elector numbers exceeding 20 percent, highlighting potential shifts in voter engagement and electoral dynamics across the state.
