Accident Occurs During Campaign Event
A motorcycle rider sustained injuries during an incident that took place during the roadshow of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay in Sivaganga, Tamil Nadu, on Friday. The event was captured on video and shared by news agency ANI.
Footage revealed that a group of young people riding motorcycles was trailing behind a van when one rider attempted to take a selfie, ultimately resulting in the accident. Further information regarding the rider’s condition and the circumstances surrounding the incident is still awaited.
Previous Incidents During Campaigns
This isn’t the first incident involving safety concerns at events featuring Vijay. Last September, a tragic stampede occurred during one of his rallies in Karur, claiming the lives of at least 41 individuals. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is currently looking into that incident, following the Supreme Court’s decision to transfer the investigation from a special investigation team established by the Madras High Court.
Vijay’s Political Journey
The popular actor and politician, known as “Thalapathy,” founded the TVK in February 2024. The party made its electoral debut in the recent Puducherry Assembly elections, contesting 28 of the total 30 seats while granting two to its ally, Neyam Makkal Kazhagam.
Despite this initial foray, Vijay’s main political ambitions are concentrated in Tamil Nadu, where his party aims to contest all 234 seats in the upcoming elections. Vijay himself is campaigning in two constituencies, namely Tiruchi East and Perambur.
