Update on Jailer 2 Production
Superstar Rajinikanth is nearing the completion of his film Jailer 2, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar. Speaking to reporters at the Chennai airport, he indicated that filming is set to conclude within the next 2 to 3 days. Following this project, he is scheduled to begin work on Thalaivar 173 under the direction of Cibi Chakaravarthi.
During the media interaction, Rajinikanth shared details about his upcoming projects. He mentioned, “Jailer 2 has 2–3 more days of shooting left. We will begin KHxRK from August 2026. The production houses will confirm the release dates of the films, and the script for KHxRK has been finalized.”
Comments on Jana Nayagan Delay
When questioned about the delay of Thalapathy Vijay’s film Jana Nayagan, Rajinikanth opted not to provide a comment. He responded succinctly, “Sorry, I don’t want to answer that.”
Jana Nayagan was originally slated for a theatrical release on January 9, 2026, during the Pongal festival. However, the film’s release has been postponed due to the absence of necessary censor certification, leaving its status uncertain. Presently, the action drama is anticipated to release in June 2026, although an official announcement regarding the new release date has yet to be made.

Jailer 2 will feature Rajinikanth reprising the role of “Tiger” Muthuvel Pandian. This sequel includes a notable cast consisting of Mithun Chakraborty, Vidya Balan, SJ Suryah, and Suraj Venjaramoodu in prominent roles. In addition, Mohanlal and Shiva Rajkumar are set to return as well.
Recent reports from Pinkvilla have confirmed that Shah Rukh Khan will not be making a cameo appearance in Jailer 2, although he had shown interest in the role. Due to existing work commitments, he has declined the opportunity to share the screen with Rajinikanth.

The production for Thalaivar 173 is slated to commence towards the end of April 2026. Additionally, Rajinikanth has KHxRK Reunion lined up, where he is set to collaborate with Kamal Haasan on-screen after a gap of four decades.

In related news, there are reports indicating that the release of the film Pallichattambi, featuring Tovino Thomas and Kayadu Lohar, may have been postponed. The movie is currently expected to arrive in theaters around Vishu 2026.
